Manabu Ikeda specializes in highly technical and detailed pen-and-ink drawings. Born in Saga, Japan, Ikeda is keenly interested in understanding the minutiae of creatures. When he was a child, he enjoyed observing the structures of various creatures and pondering the lives of insects: butterflies, grasshoppers, stag beetles, crickets, praying mantises, snails, and cicadas, to name just a few. Using a nib pen, Ikeda enjoys drawing images of creatures and their intricate features on paper.
