A lifetime of cross-cultural experience provides the inspiration for Chi’s work. She was born in Taiwan, grew up in New York, and lived in Hong Kong before settling in Vancouver, BC. Chi has been exposed to a rich variety of art, architecture and natural wonders. Her work has the underlying theme of East meets West. Combining Eastern traditional design sensibilities and Western modernism, she creates objects that adorn the body with inherent balance and harmony.
Her recent work explores forms and textures, and relationships of lines and space. She often works with casted forms made out of wax or metal originals which are then cut and re-shaped. Chi’s pieces are individually handcrafted from sterling silver and various karats and colors of gold and matched with adornments in pearls, semi-precious/precious stones and diamonds.
Chi says that her passion is making art from raw materials into something beautiful and functional, the magic of making jewelry that gives the wearer the self-confidence and self-expression of individuality. Chi’s design philosophy is simple elegance with a twist.
