Bear is a symbol of strength and authority, and is the protector of the animal kingdom. Considered a close relation of human kind, bear is the link between the natural realm and the divine (or supernatural) realm. Bear is highly respected and is known as Elder Kinsman.

Travis Henry

Travis Henry, born in Cowichan, BC on Vancouver Island, has been carving since 1982. He was trained by the Seaweed family, who are well known and respected carvers from Alert Bay. Henry carves his silver and gold jewelry in Kwakwaka’wakw style. Henry also acts as a teacher and guide to younger artists who would like to learn about their heritage and the art of carving in precious metals. Apart from Canada, Henry’s carved jewelry can also be found in collections in Japan, the United States, Europe and Australia. Travis currently lives in Langford, BC with his young growing family.
