Simon Britchford, "Britchie" is a Vancouver based designer & maker of fine furniture and home decor accessories. His work is bold, evocative and a direct expression of his passion for working with wood and other natural materials. Originally from the UK, Britchie has an extensive arts education including a Degree in Industrial Design and a Masters Degree from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. He has worked in a number of creative disciplines, starting out as a model maker and prototyping specialist for the late Sir Terence Conran’s Habitat/Heals/Mothercare empire and for several top London agencies before transitioning to digital design with a role in software design for IBM. On moving to Canada, Britchie worked as a graphic artist for local movie and TV show productions and moved into web design and marketing with the advent of the internet. It was during this time he rekindled his passion for wood working, converting a small shed into a fully equipped workshop which he has continued to develop and now thrives through a mix of private commissions and retail sales.
